Army Week, very commendable gesture

No one in Rwanda can fail to witness the great work done by the Rwandan soldiers! Their energy is being focused on economic, political and social development. Among the various activities in the Army Week is provision of shelter to the needy by our patriotic forces.

Patients who lived in great pain had their plight responded to when the defence forces came up with a wonderful plan of providing medication to them. A number of people with dental problems were consequently treated.

It was something unexpected because many civilians think that defence forces only show their responsibilities during war times. A soldier was rarely heard or thought of to be part of those who can participate in community services.

I mean these are thoughts of some civilians basically because they are rarely seen participating in the day to day activities. Only on occasions where his Excellency is to be present, the prime minister and others with immunity, defence forces are seen present then.

Many Rwandans, even foreigners, were grateful for the work of the soldiers who provided free treatment and sometimes surgery to them.

It’s never too late for other people, organizations and ministries to come up with such a program. If all Rwandans would think of how much Government money is saved when they work as a team towards a certain goal.

At the end, that money is appropriately used in other public requirements thus shortening the process towards realising development.

The Rwandan defence forces saved thousands of people who could otherwise die by donating blood. During accidents, there is loss of blood which needs to be replaced in order to save people’s lives. Pregnant mothers during delivery tend to lose a lot of blood.

Most of the time, the issue of inadequate blood in hospitals is a big challenge since this leads to loss of lives to many people. The good example showed to all Rwandans by Rwandan defence soldiers when they donated blood should be upheld.

I am trying to draw a picture of how much would be achieved in case all religions come up as a team with a project not so much different from what the defence soldiers did. Imagine what the numbers of believers would realise in just one such campaign.

Let’s all have the spirit of coming up with something which will bring positive changes to all Rwandans and Rwanda as a country. A warm expression of gratitude to our defence forces for their work done. We are proud of you.
