“Ask, and it will be given to you” (Matthew 7:7). This is one of the several life principles I usually revisit when I feel God has taken long without blessing me with what I have prayed for.
"Ask, and it will be given to you” (Matthew 7:7). This is one of the several life principles I usually revisit when I feel God has taken long without blessing me with what I have prayed for.
Sometime back I had to revisit my entire check list of Bible principles which spell out how God will bless us because I was in desperate need of money to have a project of mine move to another level.
My checklist has/had items like prayer, repentance, tithing, loving one another, etc and I felt I was doing my best to follow them but why was God taking long to react...... have you been in a similar situation?
Reading through the scriptures it donned on me that the timing of God is perfect and it is not the timing of man. The timing in which you might believe is the best to receive from God might not be God’s timing. In other words my check list of life principles lacked the aspect of timing---- waiting on the Lord.
God’s timing being perfect is highlighted in the fact that some of our prayers have been responded to in seconds, minutes, days or years. Why the time difference?
I believe many of us have prayed, fasted and followed the teaching and may be God has not responded till now. Some have even began wondering whether God loves them or whether He even hears people’s prayers because you feel you have waited long enough.
Whatever the duration of the waiting time, friends we don’t have to give up on the Lord, He is perfect and the timing of his blessings is also perfect.
The reason you turned to God for His intervention is that you believe God has power over everything that should be the same reason to make you wait on the Almighty God. In daily life, we sit for exams/job interviews and we wait for results, we invest and wait for profits then why can’t we wait on God whom we know is almighty.
2 Chronicles 20: When the enemies declared war and started marching towards Jehoshaphat’s kingdom, he begged the lord for guidance. God commanded him to march his troops out against their enemies. 2Chronicles 20:17 "You will not have to fight this battle.
Just take up your positions and wait; you will see the LORD give you victory. People of Judah and Jerusalem, do not hesitate or be afraid. Go out to battle, and the LORD will be with you!”
Friends, the fact that you took on a position of prayer, a position of trusting God, then you have to wait on Him for your victory/miracle.
Luke 24:49: "And I myself will send upon you what my Father has promised. But you must wait in the city until the power from above comes down upon you.”
As Jesus was about to ascend to heaven, He told the disciples to pray and wait until the power from above comes upon them (holy spirit)
Exodus 32: God was about to destroy the people of Israel when they decided not to wait for Moses who had gone to pray and get answers from God on the mountain.
The Israelites decided to make themselves a small god because they felt tired of waiting for Moses who had gone to seek for answers. Their impatience almost caused their destruction had it not been Moses to plead for forgiveness from the Lord
Friend failure to wait on the Lord in all situations leads to disaster.
Numbers 23:19 "God is not like people, who lie; He is not a human who changes his mind. Whatever He promises, he does; He speaks, and it is done”. So……………. Let us wait on Him.
