South African Amapiano duo Bandile and Banele Mbere, better known as the Major League DJz, with intentions to take the "Amapaino” genre to the world are on their way to Rwanda for their first performance in the country slated for November 4.
Dubbed 'Amapiano To The World,' the event will be held at tthe '17th Avenue popup nightclub', the biggest club in Rwanda that will be built in BK Arena, Rwanda’s sports and entertainment hub.
The twin brothers rose to stardom during the covid-19 pandemic through their Balcony Mix Xperience, a popular series that invites some of the biggest names making Amapiano to play live on balconies across the world.
According to a communique released by QA Venue Solutions, BK Arena’s management company which is also among the organisers of the show, before 'Amapiano To The World' mega concert, the twins will have the next edition of Balcony Mix Xperience in Kigali on Thursday, November 3, at Ubumwe Grande Hotel.
"Kigalians can look forward to dancing the night away to the world’s top DJs at least once a quarter in the coming year with 'Amapiano To The World' being the first of many 17th Avenue Pop Up Nightclub experiences in the pipeline. QA Venue Solutions will continue to provide Kigali with unprecedented experiences one event at a time,” the statement issued.
Amapiano, which comes straight from improvised studios in the townships of South Africa is best described as a sub-genre of "Kwaito’ and house music. From its humble beginnings, this sound is now moving all over the world, and it’s coming to Rwanda this weekend with stars like Maphorisa and Major Leagues performing in Kigali this weekend.
The show was organised by BK Arena in collaboration with EAP, Momo by MTN, Ubumwe Grande Hotel, and Forzza.
