Kenya will from December 7-15 host the 14th edition of the East Africa Community Inter Parliamentary Games with eight countries from across the region confirmed to participate.
Kenya president William Ruto will officially open the games in Mombasa.
The games, which draw legislators from the East Africa Community block, got a shot in the arm when pan-African sports investment company Mchezo Limited announced it will be title sponsor, this being the second successive year the company is associating with the competition.
Legislators from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Somalia Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and South Sudan will compete for honours in eight disciplines which include tug of war, football, golf, athletics, netball, volleyball, basketball and darts.
Rwanda will have representatives in football, basketball, handball and tug of war.
In the previous edition, Uganda emerged overall winner of the 13th Edition of the Games which took place in Kigali in December 2023. They finished with 28 medals (16 Gold, 7 Silver and 5 Bronze) while Rwanda came in fourth place with six medals including two gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze.
