AMAVUBI midfielder Bonheur Mugisha was delighted with scoring his first half goal in the Tunis derby that powered his side Stad Tunisien to a 1-0 victory over cross town rivals Club Africain at Complexe Hedi Ennaïfer on Saturday.

In the main match of the day, Stade Tunisien brought down then league leaders, Club Africain, thanks to Mugisha’s goal in added time of the first half.

The former APR midfielder fired a powerful shot into Club Africain’s net for the only goal of the game after making a decision and sneaking past the rival defenders, giving his team three important points and immediately taking the first place in the Tunisian Ligue 1

"It was a good goal and I’m happy to score because it has been a long time since I scored. It’s one of the best goals I have scored in my career and it is another motivation for me, but the most important thing is to help my team to win,” Mugisha told Times Sport.

"We played a good game but we still have a lot to do because the league is too long, we need to take game at time. The win should boost our chances of progressing.”

Mugisha joined Stade Tunisien in early September as a free agent after his contract with former side AS Marsa expired in June. He is one of the players raised in Heroes football academy in Mayange-Bugesera District.

The Rwanda international has improved his level of performance since joining the Tunisian Ligue 1 leaders and Saturday’s match winning display in the capital's derby justified the price Stade Tunisien paid to sign him.

"I am happy to help my club but I still have long way to go as I want to improve my game. It is good to score and I am still trying to improve game by game” he added

With this victory, Stade Tunisien continue to affirm their ambitions for the title they last won during the 1964–65 season.
