KHARTOUM, SUDAN –  ATRACO hope to put their ragged group stage display behind them when they clash with Uganda’s KCC in one of two quarter-final ties today.

The national league champions, who collected three points out of a possible nine progressed to the quarter-finals as one of two best finishers at the group stage while KCC stormed the knock-out stage as Group B winners.

But Atraco’s leading marksman Hamis Kitagenda with two goals insists that they are past the group stage and entirely focused at today’s tie.

"This is a new challenge and we are going to give it our all,” said Kitagenda as he goes against his former club for the first time since his switch from the Ugandan side to the Rwandan champions two years ago.

Atraco should also make the most of a short-of strength KCC side. KCC’s George Nsimbe has to device a winning strategy minus three first team players.

KCC’s first choice goalkeeper Tony Okello is suspended while Anthony Bongole and Moses Muhindo are nursing injuries.

En route the quarters,  Atraco suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat against El Merreikh, were pipped by Kenya’s Mathare United 2-1 but bounced back with a 5-0 victory against Djibouti’s Kartileh.
