Shyaka, Ntwali win silver, bronze at 11th Commonwealth Karate Championships

Fiston Ntwali won bronze in the U67kg individual Kumite [fighting] weight category at the 11th Commonwealth Karate Championships 2024, in Durban, South Africa, on Friday, November 29.

Rwandan karatekas bagged silver and bronze medals, on Friday, November 29, in their respective individual Kumite [fighting] weight categories at the 11th Commonwealth Karate Championships 2024, in Durban, South Africa.

Maïc Ndutiye Shyaka won silver in the U60kg category while Fiston Ntwali won bronze in the U67kg category.

Shyaka and Ntwali are part of a Rwandan squad of five competing in different individual and team fighting [Kumite] competition categories.

Earlier, on Thursday, Harifa Niyitanga, Sharifu Dushime, and Sidike Niyonkuru, bagged bronze – together with Australia – in the team kata competition category of the competition.

The team left Kigali on Wednesday night heading to Durban, to take part in the 11th Commonwealth Karate Championships running from November 28 to December 2.
