Etincelles thrashed Sorwathe 3-0 to leapfrog Muhanga at the top of Group B in the second division.

Muhanga, who started their away UNR tie one-point clear of Etincelles were shockingly held to a 1-1 draw by the varsity side. The result was testament to UNR’s resilience when playing in their backyard.

UNR striker Jean Claude Kamanda put the hosts in front on the 20th minute to send the home crowd into excitement. But Muhanga rescued a point after an equaliser from Muhammed Nsanzimana.

Etincelles now have 40 points, one clear of Muhanga and a further eleven clear of UNR and Pepiniere who are tied in third place. In Group A, Nyanza moved into second spot after a 1-0 victory over Interforce.

Military play Musanze on Wednesday well aware that a win will move them back into second place.
