Hitimana eyes return to local league after two years away

RWANDA’s versatile defender Omar Hitimana has returned to Kigali after a two-year stint in the Uganda Super League.

Hitimana, who won last year’s Uganda Super League title with KCC is out of contract with the Ugandan champions, the sole reason he is not involved in the Kagame Cup/Cecafa Club Championships in Sudan where KCC are doing well having progressed to the quarter-finals which start tomorrow.

Hitimana recently revealed to Times Sport that his contract with KCC ran out back in May and that he is now a free agent.

"I’m out of contract with KCC and as things stand, I’m likely to feature in the Rwandan league next season although I still can’t tell with which club,” the former U-23 national captain said.

"There are reports that APR, Atraco and Rayon Sport are all interested but we have to wait and see,” the soft-spoken defender revealed.

At the end of the 2006/07 season, the former Atraco player moved to Uganda where he signed a one-year contract with Express FC.

He joined KCC the following year on a one-year contract estimated to be in the region of $5000 (Rwf2.8 million).
