KHARTOUM, SUDAN – Atraco are ready to block Joseph Kabagambe’s dream move to Al-Neer FC unless the latter cough up $20,000 (approx. Rwf11.2 million).
Although the winger is reported to have penned a deal with the Sudanese side, Atraco have threatened to hold on to him, a move which has left Al Neer very frustrated.
An official with Al-Neel told Times Sport in Khartoum that Atraco are becoming very complicated.
"We are ready to pay $5,000 for a six month contract but the club want $20, 000,” the official fumed.
Last week, the Ugandan international admitted to forging a release letter from Atraco because he was desperate to join the Hasahisa based club, which is placed third on the Sudan league table.
The deal has however stalled after Kabagambe failed to get the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) from Rwanda.
Issa Ngenzi, Atraco’s vice president, who is in Khartoum with the team could not deny nor confirm the information that the club needs more money for the player. "We are still talking with Al-Neer but I’m sure we shall reach a compromise,” said Ngenzi.
Kabagambe, who has not featured in any of Atraco’s three group games in the on-going Kagame Cup/Cecafa Club Championships is said to have even abandoned his team mates opting to spend more time with his Ugandan counterparts KCC.
The former SC Villa player has already pocketed $10,000 as sign-on fee and has vowed never to return to Atraco.
"I can’t wait for this deal to be sealed because I’m really stressed now. But one thing for sure is that I will never go back to Atraco,” he said.
