Mugiraneza’s solitary goal powers APR past Muhazi United

APR defeated Muhazi United 1-0 in a keenly contested Rwanda Premier League week 10 game at Kigali Pele Stadium on Saturday, November 23.

APR were missing most of their midfielders including Richmond Lamptey and Seidu Dauda who were not in the match day squad through illness.

And that was the perfect Mugiraneza stepped up and seized the chance that coach Darko Novic handed him to help the army side bag a vital win.

It was a bright start for Muhazi who seized the midfield with their skipper Joseph Sackey taking control. He dazzled with his passes and also shielded the back four to perfection.

Sackey, however, got injured around the 20th minute mark and had to be replaced, allowing APR room to operate in the zone comfortably.

The reigning Rwandan champions took control of the game and eventually opened the scores in the 40th minute through Mugiraneza.

After the break, Muhazi&039;s attack, led by Samson Babuwa, created some decent chances but were not able to find the back of the net.

Muhazi goalkeeper Amani Twagirayezu saved a goal mouth melee in the 70th minute as he suffered an injury in the process. He was treated and was able to continue.

Both teams created decent chances in the final 20 minutes of the game but failed to score as APR took home the three points with a narrow 1-0 win.

Other games

Police FC needed a 96th goal from striker Elijah Ani to beat Marines FC 1-0 at Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu.

Elsewhere, Vision FC won their second game of the season with a 2-1 victory over Bugesera FC in Nyamata. There were scenes from the home fans who looked not pleased with the resulted and calling for the sacking of club coach Francis Haringingo.

In an afternoon kickoff at Kigali Pele Stadium, visitng Musanze FC held Gasogi United to a 1-1 draw.

Theodor Malipangou opened the scoring and gave Gasogi the lead in the 50th minute before Johnson Adeshole equalized in the 76th minute to snatch a point for the visitors.
