I have realised that day to day sayings or proverbs are not there by mistake but always mean something.
There is a saying that goes;’ you don’t value what you have until you lose it.’
In 2004, the national football team ‘Amavubi’ took Africa by storm when it qualified for the African Nations Cup under Ceaser Kayizari (Rwanda Football federation) Ferwafa president. No one expected Rwanda to go that far but they did.
In the tournament, they narrowly missed out on moving onto the next stage and suddenly everybody blamed Ferwafa.
Before long, Kayizari’s team was thrown out of office paving way for the so called messiah ‘Jean Bosco Kazura.’
Unfortunately since assuming office, Rwanda has dropped in its Fifa/Caf rankings and also failed to qualify for the 2006 and 2008 African Cup of Nations.
Right now, everybody is wishing Kayizari would return to office but poor Rwandans, ‘it’s too late for such wishes.’ I don’t think Michael Nees was incapacitated.
I think Ferwafa did not give him room to freely execute his duties.
They hardly gave him breathing space and often forced him to make changes in the team line-up to suit their interests.
If Ferwafa tries to carry on in this fashion, even Josip Kuze (Amavubi’s new coach) will not last.
I’m hoping that the concerned parties will think about the above information and act accordingly.
