Rwanda’s ace athletes Dieudonne Disi and Epiphanie Nyirabarame are set to rub shoulders will some of the world’s top athletes in the forthcoming Berlin World Athletics Championship. The championships are scheduled for August 13-23.
Disi and Nyirabarame will compete in the full marathon (42km). Before engaging himself in the championships, Disi, who has started light training in Kigali, will travel to Spain later this month as he steps up his preparations for the event.
"I will fly to Spain later this month to fine-tune myself for the championships,” the 28-year-old said.
The championships, expected to attract over 25,000 athletes will be held in the 74, 218-seater Berlin Olympic stadium.
Elite runners like Kenenisa Bekele, Defar Meseret, Haile Gebrselassie and Usain Bolt have been earmarked to compete.
