KHARTOUM, SUDAN - After a lengthy meeting between Atraco officials in Khartoum and Al-Neel FC on Wednesday night, it is reported that Atraco have agreed to release want-away midfielder Joseph Kabagambe to the Sudanese side.

In the meeting attended by three Al-Neel officials and Atraco vice president Issa Ngenzi, head coach Sam Timbe and Ferwafa vice president Vedaste Kayiranga, it was reportedly agreed that the best way to go was to make the player happy by letting him go.

Kabagambe became a target for Al-Neel after scoring a spectacular goal in Atraco’s 1-2 loss to El Merreikh in the first leg tie of the lucrative Champions League in Khartoum.
Early this week, the Ugandan International was a centre of controversy after faking a release letter from Atraco authorising his move to Al-Neel in a six month loan deal.

"I will be happy if I can finally be left free to join Al-Neel,” said a seemingly happy Kabagambe.

"Let me try my luck in Sudan and see how far I can get,” he said.

The gifted winger has had a bad disciplinary record. He is said to have gone AWOL after Atraco’s failure to progress to the next round of the Champions league early this year.

It took a tough management meeting and a lot of begging for him to return and Timbe believes the player needs to work on his discipline.

"Kabagambe of all players should know how to handle situations instead of becoming too stupid to disobey the club that puts food on his plate,” Timbe fumed.

Further reports indicate that Atraco will receive $5,000 (about Rwf 3.4 millions) for the player who has already pocketed a sign-on-fee worth $10,000 (about Rwf 6.7 million).

The player is also expected to earn $1,000 (approx. Rwf 0.57 millions) in monthly wages on top of housing and other benefits which will depend on his performances.
