BPR Bank Rwanda has committed its sponsorship of the Rwandan Ladies Golf Team which will take part in the 2024 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), scheduled to take place from November 28-30 in Morocco.

The bank announced its sponsorship during a press briefing held at Kigali Golf Resort and Villas on Thursday, November 21.

This is the second consecutive year that BPR Bank has sponsored the team.

The tournament will bring together female golfers from 22 African nations, with Rwanda represented by Jenny Linda, Alphonsine Murekatete, Linda Mugeni, and Alice Rwigema. Tanzania are the defending champions.

Speaking at the sponsorship handover, Grace Kayitesi, BPR Bank’s Corporate Affairs Manager, said, "At BPR Bank, we believe in empowering communities and advancing opportunities for women, especially in sports. Golf is a discipline that promotes excellence, strategy, and perseverance—values we share as an institution.”

Sponsoring the Rwandan Ladies Team for a second year is an honor, and we are confident they will shine at the All Africa Challenge Trophy. We are here to champion them every step of the way,” she added.

Alice Rwigema, the Director of the AACT Ladies Team, lauded the bank’s continued support to elevating Rwandan golf and its community.

"BPR Bank has been an incredible supporter of women’s golf in Rwanda. Their sponsorship not only alleviates financial pressures but also motivates the team to perform at their best,” Rwigema said.

"Representing Rwanda on such a grand stage is a privilege, and we are determined to make our country proud. On behalf of the team, I extend my heartfelt thanks to BPR Bank for believing in us and investing in our journey.”

Rwandan ladies’ golf team will be looking to finish on the podium at the tournament and team captain Jenny Linda is optimistic she and her teammates can achieve the milestone.

"We are proud to represent Rwanda in this year’s tournament. We will do everything possible to finish at least in the top five. Our team is ready to give its best effort.”

The players have undergone training ahead of the tournament and remain optimistic about their performance.

BPR Bank Rwanda emphasized its commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to community development and promote inclusion through sports.
