The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) 5 Division football team triumphed 2-0 over the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF) 202 Brigade in a friendly match held at Ngoma Stadium on Wednesday, November 20.
This encounter marked the third meeting between the two teams, fostering camaraderie and cooperation through sport.

The TPDF 202 Brigade had claimed victory in the previous two matches, with the most recent held on April 25 in Bukoba District, Tanzania, where they edged the RDF 5 Division 1-0.
Brig. Gen. Pascal Muhizi, Commander of the RDF 5 Division, described the event as a testament to the strong relationship between Rwanda and Tanzania, aligned with the vision of the two nations’ leaders.
"This friendly football match not only provides entertainment but also strengthens our partnership and cooperation,” Brig. Gen. Muhizi stated.
"It enhances collaboration, particularly in joint operations to maintain security along our shared border.”
Col. William Joshua Lovukenya, who headed the TPDF delegation, highlighted the match’s role in deepening ties between the two militaries.
He urged players to embrace sportsmanship and unity, reinforcing the spirit of solidarity shared by the sister forces.
