EASTERN PROVINCE

Nyagatare—For the first time in history, far-off Kiyombe sector, has means of transport and MTN network access to cellular phone coverage.

The developments in the small district have become the talk of the town as the Onatracom buses touch Kiyombe soil and MTN signals the sky.

Executive secretary for Kiyombe sector Enoch Byabashaija expressed happiness, saying now Kiyombe was on par with other sectors in the country.

"The truth is that Kiyombe sector was almost isolated from other parts of the country since the sector had no public means.

People had to foot for over 30km from Kiyombe to Karama sector to be able to catch up with buses,” Byabashaija said.

"When MTN connected Kiyombe sector to its sector after constructing a network tower many residents bought phones but what is funny and amazing is that residents after getting phones had no one to call so the whole day and night they called me in the name of celebrating the developmental achievement,” he added.

"To make phone calls we had to climb highlands, but today things have become a little easier for all of us.

I strongly believe Kiyombe is going to develop since communication and transport facilities are now available.

Onatracom branch manager François Ndekezi said fares would be Frw700 for 50 kilometres.
