RUSIZI—With a hammer to the head, a man has killed his wife in Shara, Muganza sector after a domestic dispute over cattle.

On Friday October 26, Esperance Nyirabwimana, 39, died after suffering multiple blows to the head when husband Zakayo Semajangwe and an accomplice attacked her in the family’s home.

Semjangwe reportedly paid a friend, a demobilized soldier, Frw200,000 to take part in the attack.

The couple was suffering from a domestic dispute over a proposed sale of cattle.

Nyirabwimana reportedly opposed her husband’s business deal to start an income-generating project in the area.
"I am very absurd to have murdered my wife.

I now regret it because I will never again see her,” said Semajangwe at police headquarters, though he shows little remorse in general. "On the other hand I don’t regret much for her death because I decided to kill her since she has been refusing me to sell some of our cows.”

The two had been married for 18 years and had six children.
