Rwanda have dropped a further 17 slots in the latest Fifa/Coca-Cola World rankings released yesterday. Ranked 96th last month, Rwanda is now 113.

The decline is hugely attributed to Amavubi’s poor start to their 2010 World/ Africa Nations Cup qualifying campaign after managing only one point after a goalless draw against Algeria and a 1-0 defeat to Zambia.

Rwanda’s highest ever ranking was back in December when they rose to 78th spot. Amavubi’s other Group C opponents Algeria moved up 19 places to 47th while African champions Egypt dropped two places to 38th.

In the Cecafa region, Uganda maintained its grip at the summit for a third consecutive month despite dropping eight places down to 75th.

Sudan is second in 91st spot while Tanzania is third after jumping twelve places to 97th position. Kenya is in fifth position after dropping three places to 105th position.

The CAF zone is topped by Ivory Coast followed by Cameroon, Gabon, Nigeria and Ghana.

Brazil regained top spot in the world after winning the Fifa Confederations Cup in South Africa. European champions Spain are second.
