STOCKHOLM- Rwandan super stars Massamba Intore and Miss Jojo rallied hundreds of revellers in concerts for "One Dollar Campaign” across Sweden organised by the Rwandan diaspora in Sweden, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Rwanda to the Nordic Countries.

Drawing from his rich repertoire including such hits as: "Nyeganyega”, Uzaze urebe, Massamba electrified crowds dominated by the Rwandan and Burundian community in Sweden at trans-night galas held in the cities of Stockholm, Västerås and Nörrkoping; June 26th, 27th and 28th simultaneously.

Audiences also flocked to the stages as upcoming star Miss Jojo—whose songs also drew sing-along sessions from some in the halls—glided to her own hits.

"Most of you here will get back to your homes tonight”, Massamba, talking on a sombre tone, told the audience in Stockholm at the peak of his performance, "unfortunately, many young people orphaned by the genocide back in our home country are not as lucky”.

"Our values require us to respond in every way possible and put an end to, or at least mitigate the rough conditions these children go through every day”, he added.

Rwandan Ambassador to the Nordic Region Jacqueline Mukangira, who attended all three concerts, urged the Rwandan diaspora to step-up their contributions to the "One Dollar Campaign” as it approaches its July deadline.

"Few initiatives carry the importance or deserve the urgency that this effort holds”, said Mukangira.

"The Rwandan community in the Nordic region has often responded positively to initiatives from home. I expect similar enthusiasm for the One Dollar Campaign”.

The concerts in Sweden— organised to double as cultural get-togethers for a region that boosts of a substantial portion of the Rwandan diaspora in Europe—included such Rwandan staples as goat brochette, fried bananas and unbridled dancing.

Massamba and Miss Jojo will continue their Nordic "One Dollar Campaign” tour with a concert in the Norwergian capital Oslo on Tuesday, before heading to Copenhagen, Denmark, for the final gala.

Prior to their return to Rwanda, the duo will also perform in Belgium for the July 4th liberation day celebrations.
