Editor,
When we were all still patting ourselves on the back along with our Congolese neighbours after the Rwanda– DRC joint operation "Umoja Wetu” not many would of thought that the FDLR would still be claming lives just a few months after the operation as more reports suggest during the weekend.
The more cynical of us were more hesitate after Rwandan troops pulled out after the two week operation ended leaving the Congolesse National Army FARDC and MONUC to finish the job.
Now I’m not a naturally cynical person but given the Congolese Army’s , lets say less than impressive reputation, and MONU’s track record of keeping peace in eastern Congo, I think I could have been forgiven for having doubts.
So, having said all that I wonder if the killings continue as they have been for some time is it time Rwanda think of another strategy to rid the threat of FDLR once and for all.
