The president of the National Paralympic Committee, Dominique Bizimana was last week elected by regional Executive Paralympic Committees in Dar-es-salaam to head the East African Federation of Sports for People with Disabilities.

Bizimana, who beat Kenyan Jairus Mogalo to the post, told Times Sport of his joy to be elected to the regional post but reiterated he will not resign his post as president of the local NPC.

"It is not necessary for me to resign as President of NPC (National Paralympic Committee because both posts are not salaried jobs and I can do them concurrently and effectively.” Bizimana said in a phone interview yesterday.

The regional Paralympic Committee will have Bizimana as president, Jairus Mogalo (Kenya) as vice president and Iddi Kibwana (Tanzania) the Secretary General. Uganda’s John Kiyaga will be the treasurer.
