Karibu restaurant and bar is one of Kigali’s eateries located on Avenue du la Paux next to radio Rwanda, a stone throw away from the city centre.

The inside décor is styled with locally made art and craft articles that give the place a memorable ambience for revellers.

Services offered range from the barbecue in an open natural environment setting surrounded by entertainment of local melodies and sports screened from a DSTV set, to bar and snacks.

The Menu:

Break fast: Fresh milk is served with Rwandan coffee or Rwandan tea, African tea or coffee, fresh and hot chocolate milk and different types of Juices made from oranges, passion fruits, lemons, pineapples and water melon.

Breakfast beverages are accompanied with African bread and margarine; fruit jam honey served with plain omelette, Ham omelette, Spanish, Cheese omelette, tomato omelette, meat and peas samosas, cakes and plain chapattis.

The restaurant also serves a buffet from Monday to Friday which includes starters, main courses and desserts.

Starters: Soup comes in various forms of vegetable, carrot, spinach, chicken and mushroom. These are sometimes seasoned with salads like avocado, tomato, carrot and cabbage.

Fish dishes: Tilapia fillet with vegetables, menniera and capitaine with green pepper.

Meat dishes: Escalope cordon blec, beef fillet with sauce, steak with mushroom sauce, Pork fillet with mustard sauce, English fried liver with ham and onions, Beef liver with onion, Grilled beef fillet with red wine sauce, Roasting meat with mushrooms, Chevre fillet (for goat’s meat), sauté with butter & garlic, Pork chops season with cheese, Grilled beef steak dressed with anchovy, Grilled beef fillet with maitre butter, mushrooms, grilled tomato, Escalope enrolled with ham & cheese and Grilled lamb maitre d’hotel.

Chicken dishes: Chicken boned with Porto sauce and papri, whole chicken with lemon juice, boiled chicken with green pepper and mushroom Portuguese leg chicken.

The nos grillades: Grilled fish, beef kebab, zingalo garnie, ¼ de poulet ¼ chicken grilled and brochette fish kebab.

Karibu desserts: Yellow banana, apples, sliced pineapples, pancake, passion fruit, sliced oranges and lemon and assiette de fruit de saison. All the dishes are accompanied with various kinds of foodstuffs depending to the client’s choice at buffet time.

The bar:

Frequent and new customers have a wide range of selection from the wines and beers.

White wines: Chadonnay-omaine berg on vine de, Sauvignon-domaine berg on vine de and pays doc France.

Red wines: Merlot-Domaine berg on vine de pays doc France, and cabernet sauvignon-Dom berg on vine de pays doc.

Local and imported products: Primus, Amstel, Mutzing, Tarama, Mbanza, Bavaria, Heineken, Carlsberg, Guinness, pilsner, Red bull, Tuskers, Bell lager and a variety soft drinks.

Services:

Karibu restaurant and bar has a horde of highly trained staff who go about their business with an aura of efficiency and expertise in customer care.

The prices:

Karibu seems to be the only outstanding restaurant and bar with pocket friendly charges in relation services offered. Their buffet goes for Frw1000 with a variety of victuals. Costs for the beverages are slightly lower than the ordinary.

The loos:

It’s the flush type, clean and good enough for any desirable convenience needed by customers.

Rwandan and foreign with talk on about the beauty of the place and city suburbs, business in the city and general appearance of the country.
