MOHAMMED Tchite a.k.a Meme is keeping his cards close to his chest on which national team he wants to play for.

The striker, who features in the Spanish La Liga with Racing Santander, is eligible to play for any one of the four countries; Rwanda, Burundi, DR. Congo and Belgium.

For a long time, the striker has attracted great interest from Rwanda but according to Ferwafa’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa, it is up to the player to decide.

"He was here and we talked to him like we normally do to any other Rwandan professional,” Kalisa said.

"About speculations that he could don the Amavubi jersey in the near future, it is entirely up to him to make the decision.”

"We just have to wait until he makes his final decision. But for us (Ferwafa), the door is open,” Kalisa added.

Meme is still contemplating on whether to join Amavubi or Belgium although as things stand, he is not happy with both sides after a poor start to their 2010 World Cup campaign.

Like Rwanda, Belgium are not doing well in their 2010 World Cup qualifiers and might even miss out on a place in the 2010 Euro finals.

In 2007, he went public about his desire to play for Belgian but Fifa turned down his dream by insisting that he is only eligible to play for Rwanda.

Meme started his footballing career with Prince Louis in Burundi before joining Rwanda’s Mukura in 2002.
