Patriots Basketball Club has made a significant leadership change by appointing Arnold Kwizera as club’s new Chief Executive Officer.
Announced on Friday, November 14, the change in Patriots leadership aims to strengthen the club’s strategic vision, enhance its operational capacity, and reinforce its competitive presence both in Rwanda and across Africa.
The club also elected a new seven-member Board of Directors led by Chairman Clement Ndamage, who is joined by other accomplished professionals including Apollo Nkunda Mugisha, Andrew Kulayigye, Chantal Habiyakare, Chara Itoka, Kevin Mbundu, and Ida Shema Murangira bringing expertise from law, finance, and community development sectors.
Ndamage described Kwizera’s appointment as a "pivotal moment for Patriots Basketball Club” and expressed his confidence in the former business journalist’s ability to elevate the club to new heights.
"We believe his leadership will not only enhance the competitive standing of our team but also deepen our impact in the community, inspire the next generation of athletes, and help us build stronger partnerships both locally and internationally,” Ndamage said in a press statement.
The new leadership team will look to strengthen Patriots’ influence on and off the court by building partnerships and fostering a forward-thinking culture.

Kwizera, who has been a member of Patriots for a couple of years, and taking office as club new CEO was something he envisioned with an ambition to lead the team with strong culture and values.
"Together with the board, we have a unique opportunity to create lasting impact by elevating the profile of Patriots Basketball Club, inspiring Rwandan youth, and expanding our presence on both the local and continental scene.”
In his new role, Kwizera will oversee all aspects of the club’s operations, from player development and team performance to business strategy and community outreach.
