In 2015, Davis D burst onto Rwanda’s music scene with the hit song *Biryogo*, capturing the hearts of Afrobeats fans and marking him as a rising star. Nearly a decade later, Davis D, born David Icyishaka, reflects on a journey fueled by passion and perseverance.
Now, he’s set to headline a concert celebrating 10 years in the industry alongside the fans who have stood by him.

The celebration promises a star-studded lineup, featuring South African multi-award-winning rapper Nasty C and local favorites like Nel Ngabo, Danny Nanone, Bull Dog, Platini, Ruti Joel, Bushali, Melissa, and Davy Scott. The event will also showcase performances by top DJs, including DJ Toxyyk and Marnaud, ensuring a night of unforgettable energy.
"My fans have been my biggest inspiration, and their unwavering support over the past decade has shaped my career," Davis D said during a presser on Friday, November 15. "This concert is my way of honoring them and celebrating the journey that brought me to where I am today."

As for what to expect, Davis hinted at a captivating show filled with collaborations, many with artists he has worked with over the years.
Nasty C also expressed his excitement about returning to Rwanda, saying, "I always feel the love when I’m here, and it’s amazing to be part of such a special celebration.”
"Whenever I get a request to perform in Kigali, I’m always open to it because I just love performing here—period," he said.
Reflecting on his decade-long journey in the music industry, Davis D told The New Times, "In these 10 years, I’ve managed to stay consistent while many of my peers fell off. That resilience is what makes this celebration so meaningful. And the future looks even brighter.”
The concert, named Shine Boy after his popular nickname, is set for November 29 at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (KCEV).
About Davis D
Born in Huye District, Southern Province, Davis D, now 31, is the eldest of four siblings. A graduate of St. Joseph Technical School in Nyamirambo, he credits his parents for nurturing his musical talent. Both were active singers in their church choir, and his mother even started a home choir, ensuring her children rehearsed for Sunday school performances.
"My mother made it mandatory for my siblings and me to join the choir. She even created one at home to help us rehearse,” he revealed in a 2020 interview with The New Times.
Davis’s passion for music led him to the studio while still in high school, despite his parents’ initial insistence on prioritizing education. Once his studies were complete, he fully committed to his craft, spending more time in the studio and launching his career.
Today, Davis D is one of Rwanda’s leading Afrobeat musicians, with an impressive catalog of hits that reflect his journey and growth in the industry.
