Rwanda’s football body, Ferwafa have resumed talks with Mohammed Tchite a.k.a Meme with hopes of persuading him again to play for the national team.

The federation administrators were engaged in talks with Tchite over the weekend before he left for neighbouring DR Congo. The Spain-based striker was in the country last week.

The talks were aimed at persuading him to change his mind and put on the Amavubi jersey in the remaining 2010 World/Africa Nations Cup qualifiers.

 "We have taken a long time trying to convince him to play for Amavubi Stars and we shall keep doing so until he tells us otherwise.
"We can’t give up on him, we will keep on trying because the final decision to choose either Rwanda or any other country is his,” Kazura said in an interview with Times Sport on May 1, 2008.

Meme is still contemplating on joining either Amavubi Stars or DR Congo as his preferred Belgium is not doing well in their 2010 World Cup qualifiers and might also not qualify for the 2010 Euro finals.

He was dropped from Belgium 2010 World Cup team which played against Estonia last September on Fifa’s request after the world body had underlined that Tchite was only eligible to play for Rwanda.

The Racing Santander striker, who is eligible to play for DR Congo, Burundi, Belgium and Rwanda, has been at center of loyalty ‘war’ between the Burundian and Rwandan football governing bodies.

Tchite started his footballing career with Prince Louis in Bujumbura before featuring for Mukura Victory Sports in 2002. He made his professional debut for Belgian club Standard Liege in 2003.

He publicly made his intentions of playing for Belgium clear when he became a Belgian citizen back in July in 2007 but Fifa denied him the right play for them.

The 25-year-old signed for Racing Santander from Belgian champions Anderlecht on a five-year deal before the close of the last season’s transfer window.
