KARONGI — The Automobile Guarantee Fund- a public insurance company has committed 10 percent of all its workers’ June salary towards the One dollar campaign.

This was disclosed by the company’ director general, Bernaldin Ndashimye in an interview with The New Times, after paying tribute to Genocide victims at Bisesero memorial site, last Friday.

Earlier, at the memorial site, the company workers were given a guided tour of the houses where remains of the victims are kept, before being briefed on the history of Bisesero massacres.

They were also briefed on the heroic legacy left by the victims, who are largely remembered for their resistance against the marauding gang of genocidal militias.

Later, they climbed the hill of resistance to where remains of more than 8,000 people are buried. And they pledged Rwf 250, 000 towards the maintenance of the site.  

Speaking to The New Times, Ndashimye, said, "Like any other Rwandan, we wanted to take a silent moment to honour the victims of the brutal killings. We also wanted to show our support to survivors.”

Ndashimye observed that all Rwandans should fight ethnic hatred while fostering unity and reconciliation.

"It is very absurd that there are only nine widows who survived the Bisesero killings. This shows there was much hatred against the Tutsi in this place. We must, as Rwandans fight this and struggle for reconciliation,” he said, appealing for support of needy survivors.
