The CIMEGOLF tournament returns to the 18-hole Kigali Golf Course on November 30, marking the sixth edition of the golf event.

Organized in partnership with CIMERWA, the tournament has gained popularity since its inception in 2017, evolving into a major golf showpiece that brings together golfers, sponsors, and audiences in a vibrant networking environment.

Kigali Golf Club vice-captain Eugene Murenjeka predicted a large turnout at this year’s tournament which will be held in a "shotgun” start format as it will take place after Umugana community service.

"We are anticipating 100 to 200 golfers competing across six categories, with three winners in each. The tournament will tee off at noon and conclude around 5 pm followed by a prize-giving ceremony at our new clubhouse," Murenjeka said.

He noted that this year’s prizes will maintain CIMEGOLF’s reputation for rewarding top performers with trophies and other exciting prizes.

"In previous years, winners have taken home trips, tickets, accommodation, and even cement. While we’re not sure of this year’s prizes yet, they promise to be better," he noted.

CIMEGOLF has played a pivotal role in promoting local talent. Murenjeka cited professional golfer Celestine Nsanzuwera as a success story, attributing his growth to CIMERWA’s support.

"Celestine is now one of our top players, and he’s benefited significantly from the tournament’s backing. Just two weeks ago, he placed among the top three in Entebbe," he said, emphasizing the importance of sponsorships in supporting Rwandan golfers on international platforms.
