Air Force passes out 40

NORTHERN PROVINCE MUSANZE— 40 members of the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) were passed out Friday after completing a one-month Air Power Course at Rwanda Military Academy-Nyakinama in Musanze District.

NORTHERN PROVINCE

MUSANZE— 40 members of the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) were passed out Friday after completing a one-month Air Power Course at Rwanda Military Academy-Nyakinama in Musanze District.

The first course of its kind held in Rwanda was conducted by Colonels; Mike O’Connor and Rama Iyer both from South Africa Air Force College. 

The closing ceremony was presided over by the Air Force Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen Charles Muhire and hosted by the Commandant of Nyakinama Military Academy Col. Aloyse Muganga.

In his remarks, Lt.Gen Charles Muhire noted that the course has opened the imaginations of the participants to operate with ease at the operational and tactical levels

"It has armed the military application of air power within our environment thus arming us better to continue contributing to the region and continent’s stability.’’ 

"In a changing world, we must ensure continued relevancy by continued shaping and guiding the thinking of our officers on the successful employment of air power in crisis, peace and war.” 

The South Africa Air Force College is recognized for its 60 years experience of professional military air training.

According to the Deputy Commandant of Nyakinama Military Academy, Col. Ephraim Rurangwa, the course will help RDF officers to better understand how to use the air space, characteristics of air assaults, systems and equipment.
