PHOTOS: President Kagame joins world leaders for COP29 opening ceremony

President Paul Kagame on Tuesday, November 12 arrived at Baku Stadium where he was welcomed by President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and UN Secretary-General António Guterres before joining other world leaders for the opening ceremony of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

Later, President Kagame met with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan on the sidelines of COP29.

"They discussed ways to strengthen economic cooperation in various sectors for the benefit of the people of Rwanda and Kazakhstan,” reads a post on X, by Urugwiro Village.

President Paul Kagame joined other world leaders for a group photo at the opening ceremony of COP29.

President Kagame also met with Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah, the Crown Prince of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

"Their discussion focused on the existing mutually beneficial relations between Rwanda and Jordan.”

President Kagame on Tuesday arrived in Baku, Azerbaijan where world leaders gathered for the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

At COP29, Rwanda will also be advocating for a new global climate finance goal of at least $1.3 trillion annually, under the proposed "new collective quantified goal on climate finance" (NCQG).

"COP29 marks a pivotal opportunity to accelerate action to tackle the climate crisis,' reads part of a statement by the Office of the President.

President Paul Kagame attended the UN climate change conference (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan.

While in Azerbaijan, President Kagame met with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan on the sidelines of COP29.
