ELIAS Uzamukunda a.k.a baby is set to have a medical test at France’s second division side Nantes before completing his dream move.

The APR influential striker, one of Rwanda’s top performers at the U-20 CAN championships which were held in Kigali back in January will fly to France on July 5.

It is expected that the forward will join the club if he successfully passes the medical although   APR chairman, Brig. Gen. Alex Kagame thinks otherwise.

"Uzamukunda will have his medical test next week but that does not mean that his transfer deal has been finalised,” he said.

"We are yet to receive Nantes’ final response on the deal so we should have Uzamukunda back once he is through with the medical.”
Uzamukunda passed professional trials with the relegated club back in February but the two clubs are yet to reach an agreement.

Uzamukunda flew out with team mates Haruna Niyonzima and Jean Mugiraneza but the duo returned home after failed trials at Le Havre.

The former AS Kigali striker is now in the Amavubi camp preparing for next month’s make or break 2010 World/Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Egypt.
