APR Fc went top of the national women league with a 2-0 win over Inyemera in a match played on Wednesday in Gicumbi, Northern Province.

Striker Aime Flora Uwimana put the champions ahead in the first half before Olivia Mboneza sealed the victory in the second half.

The win helped the military side leapfrog rivals AS-Kigali at the top of the league table standing, though the Kigali City Council side has a game less.

APR now have 28 points, two ahead of AS-Kigali. Musanze are third with 24 points.

After the game, APR coach Egidia Kayitesi admitted that this year’s competition is stiffer (compared to last year’s) and that her team will have to be at their ‘absolute’ best to retain the title.
