‘Urwibutso Enterprises’ unveils new products

In its policy to diversify agricultural produce, Urwibutso Enterprises a local industry has introduced carrot juice and passion fruit seed oil as some of the new products.

In its policy to diversify agricultural produce, Urwibutso Enterprises a local industry has introduced carrot juice and passion fruit seed oil as some of the new products.

The new products are being show-cased at the ongoing agricultural exhibition at Mulindi show grounds in Gasabo District.

Nzakizwanimana Jean Baptiste the chief agronomist at the company’s stand, said that the 0.5 litres of both products take about a whole year to expire.  Prices are yet to be discussed for both carrot juice and maracuja seed oil.

The company is planning to brand the product before marketing them during the upcoming national expo scheduled 30th next month.

"We considered maracuja seeds as wastes but it’s so impressive how theses products are developed because its part of our mission to give choice to our customers, he said.

He added that the products have been approved by Rwanda Bureau of Standards (RBS).

Urwibutso Enterprises is the company that is known for producing and processing Agashya juice brands. Recently the company opened a new juice plant.

The other interesting product is the tomato "chilli” product from Promagri Cooperative which exports about 5 tonnes per annum to Holland.

At the expo there was also an extraordinary bunch of bananas which weighed about 150 Kilograms costing between Rwf15, 000 at Rwf100 per Kilogram.

The one week agricultural show scheduled to end on the 27th of June is working under the theme, ‘Value addition to Agricultural and Animal products for a sustainable Development’.

It is also an opportunity for Rwandan farmers to share experiences with other farmers around the world.

Running thorough its third day, the show goers are mainly farmers who need information on particular products, their history, how and where they can be cultivated.

There is also a show casing of different technologies, demonstrations on how to apply technologies in farming. Countries participating include Kenya, Uganda , Norway , India , South Africa and Tanzania.

The 5th annual Kigali national agriculture show is considered as the biggest ever with 170 stands which increased from 92 stands in 2007.
