RWAMAGANA — Local leaders from Gasabo District have been urged to always resolve conflicts in villages amicably in order to ensure peaceful co-existence of residents.

This was the message given to local leaders who had completed training on conflict resolution at the weekend.

The workshop held in Rwamagana District was conducted by the district authorities in partnership with the German Agency for Technical Cooperation, GTZ-DED.

It was noted that women suffer most during  conflicts.
Speaking to The New Times, an official of GTZ, Pascal Mwema, noted that local leaders need to be empowered in order to handle conflicts among residents.

Narcisse Ndayishimiye, a district official noted that the training will help them unite residents.

"We can never develop our country when we still have conflicts among us, we cannot achieve anything when we do not help each other to come out of problems,” he said.
