President Paul Kagame on November 8 met with Prime Minister Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane of the Kingdom of Lesotho, who is in Rwanda to attend the 7th edition of Youth Connekt Africa summit.

The President’s Office noted that they discussed ways to further deepen bilateral cooperation between Rwanda and the Kingdom of Lesotho.

Early last month, Rwanda and the Kingdom of Lesotho signed a general cooperation agreement on the establishment of a Joint Bilateral Commission. The agreement, among others, establishes a comprehensive cooperation framework covering economy and development, social development, and good governance.

Rwanda and Lesotho have enjoyed cordial relations for over four decades, with both countries continuously working to strengthen their collaboration in various fields.

Bilateral relations between Rwanda and Lesotho date as far back as 1983 underpinned by mutual respect and collaboration. Relations have been further strengthened by exchange of benchmarking visits by senior government officials as well as high-level visits.
