IVORY Coast and Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure was pleased with Amavubi Stars’ performance during Monday’s Charity game against the All-Stars side at Amahoro.

The wasps put four past the under strengthened and fatigued visitors prompting Yaya to make some positive remarks. "The team displayed good football especially on counter attacks,” he said before adding, "But our side was also not bad apart from the goalkeeping.” 

The All-Stars had local goalkeeper Emery Mvuyekure of national league side Electrogaz Fc in their goal after Cameroon international Idriss Kameni failed to honour the invitation.

Jimmy Gatete, Albert Ngabo, Abdul Uwimana and Yussuf Ndayishimiye scored Rwanda’s goals to give Branko Tucak something to smile about ahead of next month’s make or break 2010 World/Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Egypt.

Yaya however, put a thorn in Rwanda’s heart after insisting that the team’s chances for a World Cup ticket were on the rocks. 

"Rwanda’s football standards are still low to get them to the World Cup. To get to that level, a team needs to be playing exceptional football.

"As for the Africa Nations Cup, I feel Rwanda still has a chance although the team needs to dig deep after a bad start,” the midfielder, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal reckoned.
Amavubi play Egypt on July 5 well ware that another defeat will erase any hopes for World Cup football next year while further cutting down on the country’s chances to compete in the 2010 Africa Nations Cup in Angola.

geria and a 0-1 away defeat to Zambia in their second qualifier. To make matters worse, Egypt’s 3-1 loss against Algeria only complicated the equation further for Tucak’s side that must start winning to revive their chances.Algeria now tops Group C with seven points after their recent 2-0 win over Zambia.

 Zambia are second on four points while Rwanda and Egypt still languish in third and fourth place after managing a point from their opening two qualifiers.

Monday’s Charity game was in line with the ‘One Dollar Campaign’, a project aimed at improving the living conditions and social welfare of the survivors of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsis.
