Bbaale’s second half strike powers Rayon at the top

Ugandan forward Charles Bbaale came from the bench to score the lone goal in the 50th minute as Rayon Sports traveled to beat Musanze FC 1-0 at Ubworoherane Stadium on Wednesday, November 6, and move top of the Rwanda Premier League table.

It was a tight encounter from both sides but the Blues proved their superiority as skipper Kevin Muhire unlocked Musanze’s defense before setting up Bbaale to snatch the match winner to register what was the visitors’ fifth straight win of the campaign.

Musanze’s attacking pair of Solomon Adeyinka and Johnson Adeshola had a couple of decent chances but failed to utilize them.

Elsewhere, at Ngoma Stadium, Muhazi FC thrashed Amagaju 3-0 courtesy of goals from experienced striker Samson Babuwa, skipper Joseph Sackey and midfielder Ibrahim Aminu.

At Kigali Pele Stadium, Marines FC upset AS Kigali on their own turf with a 2-1 win. Ebenezer Niyigena shot the visitors ahead in the 1st minute before Mubarak Nizeyimana doubled the lead in the 28th minute. Emmanuel Okwi pulled one back for AS Kigali but Marines held on to bag the three points.

In Nyamata, Bugesera FC were held to a 0-0 draw by Gorilla FC while, Etincelles and Rutsiro settled for a goalless draw at Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu.

Rayon have now climbed at the top of the table standings with 17 points, two points clear of Police FC and Gorilla FC who are tied to 15 points in second the third places respectively.
