Kigali, November 4, 2024 – The Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD) proudly announces its official membership in the prestigious International Development Finance Club (IDFC), joining a global network of 27 prominent development finance institutions dedicated to advancing sustainable economic growth. This membership, formalized at the recent IDFC Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., strengthens IDFC’s presence in Africa and supports BRD in its mission to drive transformative development in Rwanda.

As part of IDFC, BRD now has access to significant funding and investment opportunities, technical assistance, and expertise in sustainable finance. This membership reinforces BRD’s credibility, opening doors for new foreign direct investment while allowing the bank to collaborate on impactful, sustainable projects tailored to Rwanda’s development goals. BRD will benefit from advanced technical support to enhance its operational efficiency and project evaluation methods, ensuring optimal impact from its investments.

Additionally, IDFC membership enables BRD to engage in important discussions on policy frameworks in development finance, supporting national policies that align with Rwanda’s Vision 2050 and the African Union’s Agenda 2063. The bank’s participation in this network also promotes regional integration, aligning strategies with African counterparts to foster cross-border investments for greater economic stability and growth in East Africa.

"Becoming a member of the IDFC marks a significant milestone for BRD. This partnership not only aligns with our commitment to sustainable development and climate resilience but also enhances our capacity to collaborate on a global scale,” said Kampeta Sayinzoga, CEO of BRD. "We look forward to leveraging this network to foster innovation, mobilize resources, and drive impactful change to the communities and people we serve.”
