Amavubi head coach Frank Torsten Spittler has included Birmingham Legion skipper Phanuel Kavita in his 30-man provisional squad for upcoming AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Libya on November 14 and Nigeria on November 18 respectively.
Kavita, 31, was born to a Rwandan mother and a Congolese father in Lubumbashi, DR Congo, but he is, until handed a maiden Amavubi call up, yet to be capped internationally at any level.
He has made 29 appearances for Birmingham Legion in the US second tier league this season scoring one goal.

Meanwhile, Spittler also recalled defender Abdul Rwatubyaye who last featured for Amavubi in the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Benin on June 6. He returns to the squad following his impressive performance at his club Brera Strumica in Macedonia.

Other fresh faces in Spittler’s setup are Onesme Twizerimana, Didier Ndayishimiye, and Olivier Dushimimana who netted a brace in the CHAN qualifiers against Djibouti are all in the squad.
In all, the squad is made up of 17 local players and 13 foreign-based players.
