Last weekend 18 baby gorillas were given new names in a traditional event that takes place every year called Kwita Izina.

This was at Kinigi in Musanze district. This year’s ceremony was under the theme, "2009, Year of the Gorilla,” which was chosen by the United Nations.

The International Year of the Gorilla was launched in December last year.
