Rwanda U20 men’s handball team increased their chances of lifting the IHF Trophy Continental Phase after beating Zimbabwe 55-23 on Monday, November 4.

Rwanda is among five countries taking part in the competition taking place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from November 2-6. Other participants include Congo Brazzaville, Guinea, Zimbabwe and Reunion Island.

With the win, Francois Xavier Ngarambe’s youthful side extended their unbeaten run to three game in a row, having won the opening match against Congo Brazzaville after the latter delayed showing up at the venue. They also beat Guinea 34-30 in the second match.

A win on Monday saw the East African nation claiming the top spot with 9 points, three clear of Reunion who have 6 points in second place. The pair could, however, go level on points should Reunion beat Congo Brazzaville on Tuesday.

They will then face off on Wednesday in a match that could determine the winner of the competition. The same winner will represent Africa in the 2025 IHF Trophy Intercontinental Phase.
