Edouard Ngirente, Rwanda's Prime Minister, represented President Paul Kagame at the inauguration ceremony of Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, on Friday, October 28.

Ngirente met with Lesotho's new Prime Minister and delivered a message on Kagame's behalf.

The two countries have had a cordial relationship over the years.

Recently, Rwanda National Police and Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) signed a cooperation pact to share common interests and respond to cross-border security threats.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding, which laid down key areas of cooperation and collaboration in policing matters, had been preceded by a week-long visit of Commissioner of Police for LMPD, Holomo Molibeli to Rwanda.

Rwanda and Lesotho, by occasion, recommitted to cooperate for a "better policing environment.”

Other areas of collaboration include joint training, operations and expertise development, sharing advanced training programmes in crime investigations, crime intelligence and records management; combating proliferation of small arms and light weapons; and timely exchange of information on criminals and criminal activities.
