Local football governing body (Ferwafa) president is confident Amavubi Stars can stun Egypt in Cairo when the two sides meet on July 5.

Speaking to Times Sport yesterday, Brig. Gen. Jean Bosco Kazura said that Rwandans should be proud that they are facing the African champions.

"The Egyptians won’t play the same game they played against Italy,” Kazura believes.

Rwanda play Egypt in their third Group C qualifier for the 2010 World/Africa Nations Cup on July 5 well aware that defeat will crush their World Cup hopes and further dent a possible appearance in next year’s Africa Nations Cup in Angola.

Meanwhile, after DR Congo pulling out of Rwanda’s planned friendly on June 30, Ferwafa are trying to line up friendlies with Cameroon and Sudan.

Rwanda’s dream of making a debut World Cup appearance, let alone a second appearance in Africa’s Nations Cup, was dealt a major setback after they lost 1-0 to Zambia over the weekend.

The defeat presents the national team a steep mountain to climb for them to snatch a spot in the 2010 World Cup or Africa Cup of Nations.

Algeria tops the group on goal difference after a four-point tie with Zambia. Rwanda and Egypt, in third and fourth place are also separated on goal difference.
