Rayon Sports finally exorcised their eight-game winless streak against traditional rivals Kiyovu Sports after a 4-0 convincing win in Saturday’s Rwanda Premier League week 8 game held at Kigali Pele Stadium.
Rayon hadn't defeated the Green Baggies since 2021 until they broke the jinx thanks to a brace from Hadji Iragua with Fall Ngagne and Adama Bagayogo each scoring a goal.
Kiyovu's attacking pair Desire Mugisha and Sherif Bayo looked threatening from the early stages but Rayon were able to soak the pressure as they hit full gear.
Both teams had chances to open the scoring in the first half but they failed to convert their chances. Rayon Sports’ back four led by Aimable Nsabimana were very resolute as they defended gallantly.
Rayon's incessant pressure yielded dividends in the second half as they broke the deadlock in the 56th minute through Hadji Iraguha. The forward made it 2-0 in the 77th minute with another fine strike.

Kiyovu looked very disorganized as Rayon capitalized on their defensive frailties to make it 3-0 in the 78th through Fall Ngagne.
Substitute Adama Bagayogo put the icing on the cake with the fourth goal for Rayon in the 90 5 minute as they totally demolished their city rivals.
Rayon now have 14 points and moved at the top the league table while their rivals are still rooted at the bottom with just 3 points.
