Allan's Life Principles: Not just events but signs and warnings

On a daily basis different kinds of events take place both locally and globally around us. Some pass without many noticing whereas others are so pronounced that many changes come with them.

Many experts are brought in to analyze the social, political and economic aspects of the events so that the communities might have an insight of the events.

As an economist I have been pegged to carefully follow the effects, trends and the various strategies that the different countries are adopting to come out of the global economic crisis.

And generally, in the analysis of these events, the religious/spiritual angle is in most cases left out.
However, looking critically at most of the local and global crises that we have been faced with like the world financial crisis, nuclear struggle, famine, calamities and others, they all further emphasize what is written in Matthew 24: signs of end times.

These world occurrences trigger off sorrow, cries, sobs and pain but they should also be opportunities to review our relationship with God and how best to arm ourselves for these end times.

It is the status of our relationship with God that will see us through these hard times and therefore let these events be signs of our revival.

The spiritual angle in all the events that happen daily in our lives should always be considered as an important issue. Many of the strategies that people/countries have adopted to counter the local and global events have ended up in further disaster: we need God in all approaches to situations

The events related to end times are further highlighted in 1Timothy 4: 1-5. Here the bible highlights that many false religions, prophets and teachings that will come in the last days.

Today we have so many religious teachers all quoting from the bible but with different interpretations and many are twisting the gospel for their personal gains.

Many are preaching against the fundamentals which are clearly stated in the holy Bible, they are preaching against marriage, holy trinity, eating certain foods, baptism, resurrection of Jesus Christ and other aspects.

1Timothy 4:3: "They will say it is wrong to be married and wrong to eat certain foods. But remember God created these foods to be eaten with thanksgiving by people who know and believe the truth”.

Friend we need to be careful about the teaching we attach ourselves because the devil hides behind bible teachings as written in 2 Corinthians 11:14-15:  And no wonder, since Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. So it is not surprising if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their doom will match their deeds!

We have to read and understand the Bible and stick to the right path, the bible further says 1John 4:1. Dear friends, stop believing every spirit. Instead, test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

This is how you can recognize God’s Spirit: Every spirit who acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God. But every spirit who does not acknowledge Jesus, is not from God.

This is the spirit of the antichrist. You have heard that he is coming, and now he is already in the world.

Friends, the events around us should give opportunity to: analyse and review our relationship with our God, seek God for solutions, verify the teaching that we hear and the churches we go to.

Many doubt the second coming of Jesus, others doubt whether we are in the last days and many are ignoring the signs just as it is written: 2Peter 3:3.  First of all you must understand this: in the last days, mockers will come and, following their own desires, will ridicule us by saying, "What happened to his promise to return? Ever since our ancestors died, everything continues as it did from the beginning of creation.”

So if they are not just events but signs and warnings, then what is the status of your relationship with God? Take a minute and think through your life and then answer that question.

Like it is written in John 3:3: "I assure you, unless you are born again, you can never see the kingdom of heaven.
