Ex-Rayon coach linked with Vanuatu job

Former Rayon Sport coach Raoul Shungu may not be jobless for so long after reports that Vanuatu have made an approach for the Congolese.

The tiny Island nation, located in the South Pacific Ocean has spoken to Shungu although the Congolese insists that he is in no hurry to make a decision.

"Every thing is in the pipeline,” he told this paper when contacted for his comment on the reports.

"There are just a few minor details that need to be ironed out,” he revealed to Times Sport on Tuesday.

"Right now, I want to take a short-break from the game to give myself enough time to make the best choice,” he added.

Besides Vanuatu, it is reported that Shungu has also received offers from his native country (DR. Congo), Burundi, Tanzania and Rwanda.

National champions Atraco Fc are believed to be interested in the former Seychelles national team coach and unconfirmed reports indicate that the Taxi-men side are keen to offer him a money-spinning offer to replace Sam Timbe.

Shungu was sacked by Rayon about three months ago accusing him of subordination by his bosses, causing division among players and causing financial loss to the club among others charges.

Yet he’s still widely regarded as the club’s most successful coach after guiding them to four league titles (1997, 1998, 2002 and 2004) and the 1998 Cecafa Club Championship.

He was replaced by Jean Baptist Kayiranga, his former assistant.
