Gen Jean-Bosco Kazura, the Chief of Defence Staff of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), on Thursday, October 27, received Brig Gen François-Xavier Mabin, the commander of a French contingent deployed in Gabon.
Along with a delegation, Brig Gen Mabin is in Rwanda on a four-day official visit, which ends Friday.
According to an RDF statement, Brig Gen Mabin visit aims at strengthening military cooperation between the Rwandan army and the French Armed Forces, following discussions held in Paris in March between Gen Kazura and his French counterpart, Gen Thierry Burkhard.
"We have set up a roadmap and today we are in its implementation which will result in numerous cooperation actions and exchanges starting in 2023,” the statement reads, quoting Brig Gen Mabin speaking after the meeting.
Brig Gen Mabin and his delegation also held bilateral discussions with other Rwandan army officials at the RDF headquarters.
Earlier on Tuesday, Brig Gen Mabin and the delegation also paid respect to the victims of 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi at Kigali Genocide Memorial and also visited the Campaign against Genocide Museum.
