Rwanda has not moved a place in the latest release as the slump in the Fifa and Caf rakings continues.

According the recent release, Rwanda remains, 35th in Africa and 118th in the world and despite not moving in positions, Rwanda has gained three more points to jump from 267pts to 270pts .

Jules Kalisa attributed the country’s failure to improve in the ranking to the poor performance in the 2008 Africa Nations’ Cup qualifiers.

"Since 2004 we have had poor rankings in both Fifa/Caf rankings and the main reason is that we have failed to win football matches.

"But with the appointment of an experienced coach, we hope to have improved by the time the next rankings are released,” Ferwafa’s CEO said.

The three points gained could have come as a result the 4-0 victory over Liberia in the final qualifier last month.

The Amavubi Stars won two and lost four of their six qualifying matches to finish third on group (five) table standing behind Cameroon (15 points) and Equatorial Guinea (10 points).

Liberia finished bottom with four points.

The latest ranking puts Rwanda behind six other Cecafa member countries; Uganda, Kenya, Sudan Tanzania, Ethiopia and Burundi.
