Should Olivier Karekezi’s dream move to Al – Ahly go through, the Amavubi Stars skipper will work under new boss Nelo Vingada. The Portuguese tactician recently signed a two-year contract with the Egyptian champions.

Vingada, 56 takes over from his predecessor Manuel Jose, who stepped down to join the 2010 Africa Nations Cup hosts Angola. Prior to joining Al – Ahly, Vingada was head coach of the Jordan national team.

In 2004, Vingada worked with Zamalek, Al Ahly’s key rivals.

"Vingada has been chosen because he is familiar with local football having coached in Egypt before and also in other Arab countries” team Co – ordinator Haby Khashaba told Ashly television.

Karekezi, who played second division football with Ham Kam (Norway) in 2008, is eager to revitalize his career with a move to the Egyptian side.

"Al Ahly has a good offer for Ham Kam to resist. I have also had talks with Al Ahly and the offer looks good.” he recently said.

"I’m sure a deal will be finalized before the end of this month” he added.

Al-Ahly is the most successful club in African football history. The club has won a record six African Champions League titles.
